M-mode Echocardiodgraphic Evaluation in Patients with Mitral Valvular Diseases

Abstract
M-mode echocardiography to evaluate left ventricular function and to establish differential diagnostic features.
According to the characteristic features of M-mode echocardiography, mitral valvular diseases were divided into predominant mitral stenosis, mitral insufficiency and mitral stenoinsufficiency.
The results were as follows:
1) In mitral valve study, EF slope of anterior leaflet reduced significantly in mitral stenosis than other two groups and MVO was more increased in mitral insufficiency than other two groups.
2) In aorta and left atrium study, aortic valve opening was not different among three groups, and left atrial dimension in mitral stenoinsufficiency was more increased than mitral stenosis.
3) In interventricular septum and left ventricular wall study, no significant difference of septal thickness was noted among three groups, but septal excursion in mitral stenoinsufficiency was more increased than other two groups. Diastolic left ventricular posterior wall thickness was increased in mitral insufficiency and mitral stenoinsufficiency, but that of mitral stenosis was not significantly different from that of normal group.
4) In ventricle study, systolic and diastolic left ventricular dimension, end systolic and end diastolic left ventricular volume, and left ventricular mass were more increased in mitral insufficiency and mitral stenoinsufficiency than mitral stenosis because of left ventricular volume overloading. Ejection fraction, stroke volume and circumferential velocity were more increased in mitral insufficiency than other two groups.
